Connect. Support. Move.
Covid’s been rough & I feel Winnipeg’s dance community needs a hug. If you’ve met Darryl before, you know he is the perfect person for the job! Haven’t danced since Covid hit? Before that? Had a knee surgery? Had a baby? (Or maybe you've danced everyday of this pandemic, that’s awesome too!) Come as you currently are, check any self-judgments at the door, and be as gentle or as full on as you need. These classes are a safe space to come connect with your body and the community.
Class Description:
These 1 hr center classes are facilitated by Darryl Tracy focussing on the sensorimotor and expressive body. This class will start on the floor and play with the relationship to gravity and efficient and practical motor pathways to access movement. A great deal of the class will also look at how to challenge movement habits to access new pathways. The class will end in robust movement combinations with elements of guided improvisation to artistically feed the participants alongside live accompaniment by Ian Mikita. These are drop-in classes and an inclusive and safe environment to get back into the studio.
About Darryl:
Darryl Tracy is a Toronto based independent dance artist (creator, teacher and performer). He has created roles by most of Canada's leading choreographers and has created over 42 of his own works through commissions and self productions. Darryl was a senior faculty member and Resident Choreographer at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre for over 18 years. Darryl recently was a performer for Human Body Expression (Hanna Kiel-Toronto) in a work entitled "Again".
