Good Women Dance Collective Presents: Convergence

Convergence highlights works created and performed by Albertan artists.

This year’s lineup features the premiere of two new works including Caveat, choreographed by Good Women’s Ainsley Hillyard featuring collective artists Alison Kause, Alida Nyquist-Schultz and Kate Stashko; and Surfacing, choreographed by Constance Cooke featuring Winnipeg’s Rebecca Sawdon. Through the dynamic melding of text and movement, Ainsley Hillyard’s Caveat examines Aesop’s fable Avaricious and Envious, creating a world where the stakes are high and battles are won and lost. This emotionally driven performance delves into the complex connection between envy and competitiveness, ultimately re-imagining the ending of Aesop’s classic tale. Constance Cook’s Surfacing showcases the intricate dynamics involved in personal development and evolution. A solo performance featuring Rebecca Sawdon and a large wooden table, Surfacing is an introspective exploration of metamorphosis.
